Home Heater

Home heaters are among the most common and widely used devices for heating solutions in homes and offices and they come with a vast range of models.

In the following content, technical specifications, models, brands, buying guides, and the price for all home heaters are presented.

Home Heater Experts' Buying Guide and Price List

Home heaters are portable heating devices and generally do not require special equipment to function. These devices start working after being connected to an energy source. This energy source is usually electricity, natural gas, oil, etc. One of the most widely used supplementary heating equipment in buildings and homes is electric and gas heaters.

When using various types of home heaters, some factors should be noted as they can cause irreparable damage. Choosing the right type of fuel and heating capacity for a home heater can reduce energy consumption and operating costs.

Factors such as fuel type, heating capacity, additional features such as thermostat, fan, towel dryer, model, and brand of the heater.

In the following content, we will discuss some tips for intelligently reviewing, comparing, selecting, and purchasing an electric heater or gas heater, which are among the most energy-intensive heating devices.

Selecting a Home Heater for Open Spaces

The best way to heat open spaces or large halls such as sheds, where it is not possible to heat the entire space simply, is to use a heater with a radiant heating system.

In this case, the people who are near the heater will be warm and there will be no need to heat the whole hall or that open space. Usually, the fuel required for such heaters is gas. You can read more about gas heaters on the relevant gas heater page.

Different Types of Home Heaters

The types of heaters available in the market are:

Electric Home Heaters

Generally electric heaters are made in two radiant and fan models. Among the advantages of electric heaters are It is possible to mention their reasonable price, small size, portability, and high efficiency.

The important point in using electric heaters is that electric heaters are not designed for continuous heating in large environments. Using an electric heater in such a situation will lead to high electricity costs and endanger the safety of the residents.

Types of electric heaters

Radian Electric Home Heater

As the name suggests, in a radiant electric home heater, the heat generated by the radiation of the element (infrared waves) is provided in the home heater.

In a radiant home heater, several heating elements are used and usually, a shiny and reflective surface is placed on the back of the elements to radiate the thermal energy of the electric elements towards the environment.

A radiant electric home heater with an element usually converts 86 percent of the electrical energy into radiant energy and the power consumption of each element is about 400 to 800 watts based on size and capacity, so a device with 3 elements usually consumes about 1200 to 2400 watts of electricity, which is lower than the power consumption of larger types of electric home heaters.

In larger electric home heaters, each element consumes about 600 or even 800 watts of electricity, which depends entirely on the size and length of the electric home heater element.

Fan Electric Home Heater

On the front of the fan electric heating element, there is a fan that transfers the heat of the element to the outside of the device and causes the environment to heat up; using a fan causes better air circulation and faster heating of the environment.

This type of design makes it possible to make smaller home heaters and also increases their efficiency.

Fan electric home heaters are usually equipped with a thermostat and automatic sensor that automatically turns off the device if the environment becomes too hot. These home heaters usually have a high level of safety, but they are not suitable for use in high-humidity environments and require compliance with certain standards.

Note: In some new models of electric home heaters, both heating methods (radiant - fan) are also used.

Electric home Heater Suitable for Humid Environments

Electric home heaters suitable for use in the bathroom are radiant or electric fan home heaters. These heaters, which are made for installation in the bathroom, have a higher safety level, namely IP24, and the on-and-off switch is also attached to the device as a pendant.

Installation of such home heaters must be done with a waterproof electrical cord, which makes them completely safe and secure in environments with 100% humidity, such as bathrooms.

Some of these home heaters use infrared elements (which are mainly made of ceramic), and the heat generated by the radiant system warms the environment.

Finally, there is another type of home heater that is suitable for use in bathrooms and cannot be installed in environments that have direct contact with water. These models are generally wall-mounted, and in some models, a section for placing towels is also built into them.

Electric Home Heater Applications

If your bedroom is heated by a heating system, but on some cold days of the year, the existing heating system does not meet your heating needs, using an electric fan home heater is recommended.

In principle, we do not recommend using a radiant electric home heater because the radiant home heater keeps the room lit at night with the light it creates, and there is also a risk of fire in the plastic materials that may be in front of the home heater.

If the sound of the fan bothers you or your room does not have any heating system, then you can use an electric radiator.

An electric radiator has advantages that make it safe in every way for heating the home, especially the bedroom. Electric radiators are offered in various capacities from 7 fins to 15 fins and with towel dryers, as well as in fan and fanless models.

To learn about their specifications and prices, you can refer to the heating and engine room section, steel, panel, and electric radiators group, as well as the home and office section, in the heating radiator group on this site.

Gas Home Heater

Gas heaters can only be used in semi-open places (such as stores and shops that enter and there are a lot of people going out with them) so that fresh air flows in it because gas needs oxygen from the air in the environment to burn, and in case of lack of air, the amount of oxygen decreases, the amount of monoxide and carbon dioxide increases, which leads to poisoning and gassing.

Gas heaters are of different types, which can be mentioned as wall-mounting gas heaters, standing gas heaters, and chimneyless gas heaters.

If you use chimneyless heaters, be sure to buy those that are equipped with the ODS systems. Because according to the standard, all chimneyless heaters must be equipped with this system.

Wall-mounted gas heaters are installed on the wall, they take up less space than standing gas home heaters and have less heating power. They are much more portable and take little time to set up every year. However, you can easily assemble standing gas heaters at the end of winter so that they do not occupy additional space in the house.

Note: Installing a gas heater in the bedroom is not recommended, and the use of chimneyless heaters in environments without ventilation such as a living room, and bedroom is very dangerous and prohibited.

Gas Home Heater Capacity Calculation

The most important factor in choosing a gas home heater is the size of the space. To get the required amount of heating, consider about 150 kilocalories per meter.

Safety Factors to Keep in Mind When Buying a Gas Heater

There are several safety factors that you should keep in mind when buying a gas home heater, such as:

  • Installing the heater according to standards plays an important role in increasing its safety. When installing a gas heater, attention should be paid to the chimney outlet because of the colorless, odorless, and undetectable toxic gas CO that is produced when the gas heater is turned on. After installing and using the gas heater, periodic checks and services should be carried out to ensure the ventilation and chimney conditions.

  • The gas home heater should never be turned on without being connected to the chimney, because carbon monoxide and deadly gases spread quickly throughout the house. Therefore, it should always be ensured that the chimney path is open and does not leak, and the chimney cap installed at the end of the chimney, outside the building is intact. This check should be done every year at the beginning of the cold season and before turning on the gas heater. Be careful that after installing the gas heater, the chimney should heat up quickly and the heater flame should also be blue.

  • If the heater chimney does not heat up after installing and turning on the heater, it means that the chimney was not installed properly and standardly, and toxic combustion gases are not being directed outside. In this case, you should seriously follow up on the problem until the problem is resolved.

  • The length of the gas hose from the gas inlet valve to the heater should not exceed 150 cm, because using long gas hoses to deliver gas to different parts of the house is very dangerous. Also, reinforced rubber hoses that are specifically for gas should be used. Suitable metal fasteners should also be used to secure the gas hoses.

  • Avoid placing the chimney tube in a bucket of water because it will spread toxic and deadly carbon monoxide gas and cause death by suffocation.

  • Choose gas heaters that are equipped with an oxygen-sensing system (ODS), a system that is unfortunately not installed in many gas heaters from different brands according to experts. Of course, thermal sensors also reduce the risk of accidents to some extent by increasing safety, but they are not enough on their own.

  • The thermal sensor system works in such a way that when the flame and the temperature of the heater body increase, it is activated and the flame is extinguished. However, in the gas flow cut-off safety system, if the ambient oxygen decreases to 18% for any reason, the heater is turned off and the system automatically cuts off the gas flow to the heater, which saves the lives of the people present in the environment. The presence of a thermocouple safety system that automatically cuts off the gas flow if the heater is turned off is a mandatory requirement for all gas heater manufacturers.

Note: Gas heaters must come with an after-sales service, which is stated in the warranty card, and must be installed and commissioned by authorized service personnel. Initial after-sales service includes installation, commissioning, and testing the release of carbon monoxide gases from the gas heater chimney.

Understanding the Energy Label

One of the things that you should pay attention to when buying a gas heater is the energy category of the heater and its net heat production efficiency, this energy category of the heater is indicated by a transparent label on it.

They show that the closer it is to the letter A, the higher the net efficiency of the device, and the closer it is to the last letter of the alphabet, the lower the net efficiency.

Factors to Consider When Buying a Home Heater

If your bedroom is heated with a heating system, but on some cold days of the year, the existing heating does not meet your heating needs, we suggest buying an electric fan heater.

We do not recommend the use of radiant electric heaters, because radiant heaters keep the room lit at night with the light they create, and there is also a risk of fire in the possible plastic materials in front of the heaters. If the sound of the fan of the electric heater bothers you, or if your room does not have any heating system, then you can use an electric radiator.

The electric radiator has advantages that make it suitable for heating in any way. It makes the house and especially the bedroom safe. Electric radiators are available in different capacities, from 7 blades to 15 blades, with drying towels, and in models with and without fans.

Home Heater General Buying Guide

Although central heating systems in buildings are constantly expanding, the use of electric and gas home heaters is still one of the most common methods of heating the house.

The use of gas heaters can also have negative consequences, including accidents that occur every year in the cold season due to not observing the principles. First, the safety of gas-burning appliances takes place.

To avoid accidents and also to make better use of heat energy and warm up your home, you should pay more attention to safety tips and standards when buying a gas home heater.
