What is a sand filter?

One of the stages of the water and wastewater treatment process is to pass it through the sand filter. Sand filters are used to remove suspended water particles up to 50 microns in diameter and reduce water turbidity. Filters are very important in drinking water systems and swimming pool systems, industrial waters, etc., because they can remove a significant percentage of disease-causing bacteria and microorganisms. Fiberglass sand filter

The most common type of pool filter is FRP or fiberglass sand filter. This filter can have a good performance in the process of purifying the pool water by having a suitable filtration speed. During the purification process, the dirty pool water enters the filter through the inlet pipe, then the pump pressure and gravity direct the water down through the silica, and fine sand and silica separate any physical pollution from the pool or hot tub water.
The use of sand filters in swimming pools, in addition to separating the above-mentioned suspended particles, also absorbs fats floating in the water to a large extent. At the bottom of the sand filters, there are nozzles with very small holes that due to their small diameter, suspended particles cannot pass through them, but the water passes through these nozzles and exits from the outlet pipe under the main tank of the sand filter.

Metal sand filter

The sand filter is selected based on the type of application required in terms of capacity, volume, working pressure, material, and dimensions. Pressurized sand filters are made in various sizes and materials, the most common of which are vertical sand filters with a lens head. These filters are made of steel sheet (ST-37) or galvanized to the thickness specified in the ASME standard and for the upper and lower lenses use the DOUBLE-DISH method, after derusting from the inside with two layers of epoxy coating The exterior is painted and used with one layer of stainless steel and two layers of special paint.
