In general, DamaTajhiz cooling towers are used to reduce water temperature in the circulation of chilled water HVAC systems, industrial processes, power plants, refineries, and more.
DamaTajhiz cubic fiberglass cooling towers are manufactured in various capacities based on modern standards and technologies. Cubic Cooling Towers Operation

  • With the water circulation and airflow inside cooling towers, a portion of the water continuously evaporates. After the water cooling process in the tower, cooled water is collected in the basin and lower section of the unit and pumped toward the chiller or production process.
  • Generally, designing and calculations of a cubic cooling tower for HVAC systems are based on an inlet water temperature of 95 °F (ca. 35 °C), an outlet chilled water temperature of 85 °F (ca. 29 °C), and an ambient wet-bulb temperature of 75 °F (ca. 24 °C).
  • The minimum outlet water temperature of the cooling towers depends on the ambient wet-bulb temperature at the installation site in summer. The normal outlet water temperature is approximately 2.5 to 3 °C above the local wet-bulb temperature. For example, in Dubai, where the summer wet-bulb temperature is 23.8 °C, the normal cooled water temperature from the tower is about 26 °C.
  • The 40-Ton Cubic Fiberglass Cooling Tower by DamaTajhiz is of the induced draft type (ID), allowing airflow circulation naturally or forced. Forced draft is achieved by an AXIAL fan located on top of the cooling tower.

  • The casing components of the DamaTajhiz cubic cooling tower, including the 40 Ton Cubic Fiberglass Cooling Tower, are entirely made of reinforced fiberglass, providing high strength and UV resistance with a dual-layer exterior coating.
  • The casing and basin parts are easily assembled for annual maintenance. Secondary connections are made from non-metallic materials such as PRC-FRP-ABS or stainless steel/aluminum.
  • Fibers: The base fiber type used in manufacturing DamaTajhiz fiberglass cooling tower components is mat or mesh, with additional needle fibers used to strengthen the casing.
  • Resin: The base resin for DamaTajhiz fiberglass components is unsaturated polyester isophthalic resin, brand BKC, ISO9001 certified by SGS, with resin code 2200.
  • The basin of the DamaTajhiz cooling tower is a single-piece fiberglass (F.R.P.) with 10 mm thickness. To enhance strength, it includes double reinforcement fiber layers and two layers of UV-resistant vinyl ester gel coat on the inner wall.

Packings of Fiberglass Cubic Cooling Tower

  • The 40-Ton cubic fiberglass Cooling Tower by DamaTajhiz is equipped with two rows of splash net packings.
  • The packing sheets in DamaTajhiz cubic fiberglass cooling towers are corrugated and stacked in a honeycomb pattern. The grooves are designed sinusoidally to prevent clogging, creating an optimal film layer for rapid evaporation and maximum heat transfer. The tower packings are typically film type, step 19, made of PVC with a special antibacterial coating, FDA-approved, 400 microns thick, or splash/random splash packings made of first-grade PP, antibacterial, and FDA-approved, 500 microns thick.
  • To reduce drift (water droplet ejection) from the top of the 40-Ton Cubic Fiberglass Cooling Tower, PP eliminators are installed above the nozzles. These blade-type eliminators reduce droplet ejection to less than 0.002% of the circulating water.

  • DamaTajhiz cubic cooling towers comply with mandatory O.S.H.R. standards, and ladders made of hot-dip galvanized steel are installed for access to mechanical and electrical components on the tower.
  • The fan stack support frame is made of 6 mm thick galvanized steel sheets, and fan guard meshes are made of hot-dip iron with zinc coating ranging from 83 to 110 microns. Motor support bases and frames are also constructed from hot-dip galvanized angle iron.
  • The support legs of DamaTajhiz cooling towers are made of hot-dip galvanized steel.
  • Panel holders, tower floor chassis, external supports, and outer support brackets are made of hot-dip galvanized steel with a zinc coating thickness of 150 microns.

  • Fan Blades: The fan blades in DamaTajhiz counter-flow cooling towers are made of fiberglass-reinforced plastics, offering greater chemical and physical stability than aluminum blades. Their smooth surface reduces friction and minimizes air resistance. These blades are manufactured using isophthalic resin and high-quality fibers.
  • Fan Arm: This component connects the blade to the hub and is made of carbon steel with galvanized coating.
  • Fan Hub: Made of ductile iron and designed as a coupling, allowing easy assembly of the fan.
  • Bolts and Nuts: Dry-type bolts and nuts are used in fan manufacturing, offering high strength. For corrosive or acidic environments, stainless steel fasteners are also used.

When ordering and purchasing a cubic cooling tower with an inverter system installed in the tower’s electrical panel, the fan and motor speed can be adjusted to precisely control the outlet water temperature. (A separate electrical panel must be provided if an inverter system is ordered.)
The inverter frequency change is controlled by a sensor operating within a defined temperature range. Inverter operation changes the frequency while maintaining constant motor power. In applications where precise water temperature is not critical, a thermostat can be used to control motor on/off cycles.

Estimating Installation Space for a 40 Ton Cooling Tower

All cooling towers must be installed outdoors and exposed to direct airflow. Sufficient unobstructed space should always be provided around the tower to ensure adequate fresh air supply.
The warm air exiting the tower must be discharged so that it does not recirculate back into the tower, as recirculation increases the wet bulb temperature and raises the outlet water temperature.
In general, for towers up to 2.5 meters high, a floor area of 0.1 m² per ton of cooling is required for every 50 m² of building useful floor space. For towers above 2.5 meters high, 0.12 m² per ton of cooling is required per 50 m² of building useful floor space.

Carrying and Installation of the Cooling Tower

  • If the diameter of the purchased cubic fiberglass cooling tower exceeds 250 cm, it is recommended to transport the tower in separate parts to prevent damage during transport. Final assembly of towers with diameters over 250 cm at the project site requires additional costs.
  • If it is not possible to transport the tower as a single unit to the installation site or rooftop, please order the cooling tower in a demounted (disassembled) configuration.
  • All transportation and, if needed, reassembly costs at the installation site are the responsibility of the purchaser.
