The role of coils in the air conditioner
Since there has always been a need for different equipment to create optimal cooling and heating, devices called air conditioners have been produced and installed, and used in different commercial and industrial sectors, places, and buildings. Coils are installed in these devices to create hot and cold air, which are produced in different types of hot water coils, cold water coils, water vapor coils, and DX coils. Air conditioner coil components
Among the most important things about the parts and members of a coil are the surface and diameter of the coil, the arrangement of the fins, and the number of rows. Coil tubes
As mentioned, to make coils, pipes of different materials are used to pass cold or hot water, which is divided into three categories:
- Copper pipe: Copper pipes are usually used for water cooling and heating as well as steam at low pressure.
- Aluminum tube: this type of tube is mostly used in cold stores and industrial refrigerators.
- Maiman pipe (steel): Steel pipes are produced in such a way that there are no seams in them and they are used for high-pressure steam systems.
Types of air conditioner coils
We mentioned earlier that air conditioner coils differ based on what is flowing through them, which are hot water, cold water, water vapor, and refrigerant (DX). To prepare hot water, cold water, and water vapor and flow it into the coils, we need equipment such as a chiller, boiler, or steam boiler in the engine room, then cold or hot water is sent into the coil using a pump. But the DX type is different and does not need engine room equipment, instead, the refrigerant enters the coils directly, and the cooling process takes place by the flow of the refrigerant in the pipes and the passage of air around the pipe.
The performance of coils in the air conditioner
Air conditioners have different parts such as filters, heating and cooling coils, dampers, and centrifugal fans, among which the role of coils is more important. When heating or cooling, coils use a fin as a heat exchanger for heat exchange, and in fact, it is a means of energy transfer and is not useful on its own.
The way the coils work in the air conditioner is in such a way that first the air enters the air conditioner through the damper valve, and passes through the filters to be cleaned. Then it moves on the coils that contain hot or cold water and becomes cold air or hot air. After that, the centrifugal fan installed on the air conditioner blows fresh air into the rooms through the air channels.
Note that first of all, to choose the right coil for the air conditioner, the dimensions of the fins and enough space for the number of rows of coils should be calculated and considered. Another issue is the amount of ventilation of the air generator, the air channels coming out of the device should be calculated according to engineering methods and using a dactylator and with completely appropriate and correct dimensions (based on the volume and speed of the air passing through each section of the channel and the air outlet valve) to be.
