As you know, providing proper cooling and heating in different buildings is a challenge that is highly important in all residential, office, commercial, and other environments. Today, air conditioning is considered one of the essential building facilities. Zent (Zent) is one of the simplest four-season HVAC devices in Iran, whose cooling and heating mechanisms resemble those of evaporative coolers and air washers, respectively.
The name Zent stands for semi-winter and semi-summer. Zent systems are designed according to the climate conditions of northern semi-arid regions of Iran and, in addition to providing cooling and heating, are also capable of humidifying the air. For more information about the operation, components, advantages, and top brands of Zent devices, please stay with us as we answer common questions such as: What is a Zent device, and what is it used for?

What Is a Zent?
Zent is a dual-purpose device that, besides providing evaporative cooling and heating via a hot water coil, increases air humidity in summer. The name Zent stands for semi-winter and semi-summer. The device is an entirely Iranian design. The size of a Zent is slightly larger than traditional evaporative coolers, and its cooling and heating systems operate differently from each other.
Components of Zent
Key components of a Zent device include:
- Housing/Body
- Air fan
- Electric motor
- Outlet vent for cold or warm air
- Heat exchangers or hot water coils
- Water pump and cellulose pads that perform evaporative cooling in summer, similar to evaporative coolers
- Filtration system (optional)
- Humidity control system in winter (optional)
- Fresh air intake vent located outside the building

Advantages of Zent
Due to its evaporative cooling system similar to traditional evaporative coolers, the Zent does not require powerful air washers or strong water pumps to atomize water droplets. This results in a more affordable price compared to air washers. The Zent can be used year-round in schools, mosques, car showrooms, warehouses, production workshops, military bases, and more. Its electricity consumption is low since it lacks a compressor, using power only for a ventilation fan and a small water pump.
Other benefits include easy and quick installation. One notable feature is its ability to humidify even during winter. Eliminating radiators and plumbing systems reduces overall costs. The heating time for the Zent is shorter compared to gas heating packages. Using this device provides gentle and appropriate air circulation inside the building during both summer and winter seasons.
How Does a Zent Work?
A Zent device can operate in cooling, heating, and humidity control modes, with its operation in each mode described as follows:
- Zent operation in cooling mode: As mentioned earlier, the Zent functions similarly to a cellulose evaporative cooler in cooling mode. In summer, water is first pumped onto cellulose pads, then air passes through the pores of the pads. Due to evaporation, heat and water exchange places, cooling the air by humidification. This cooled air is then distributed through ducts installed above the false ceiling to different spaces. If conditions are right (relative humidity below 30% in summer), it can reduce air temperature from 38°C to as low as 26°C. Generally, Zents are larger than evaporative coolers and suitable for areas up to 500 square meters.
- Zent operation in heating mode: In winter, the device draws indoor air via a return duct and passes it through hot water coils, warming the air before sending it back inside through supply ducts. The hot water is pumped into the Zent coils from boilers or gas heaters of each unit. The centrifugal fan moves the air over the coils and distributes the warm air throughout the building via the duct system.
Installation Location of Zent
Zents should be installed indoors, in spaces with windows facing outside to allow fresh air intake for summer cooling. However, the same windows must remain fully closed during winter to prevent cold air from entering the device. The first step in purchasing a Zent is to consider its cooling and heating capacity, centrifugal fan motor power, and installation location. Zent devices from brands like DamaTajhiz offer a range of cooling, heating, and airflow capacities.
On the specialized DamaTajhiz website, technical information on dozens of Zent models from reputable brands with original warranties is provided to help you make a smart and optimal purchase decision.
